About the event

IWLA hosts the The Des Plaines Art Guild to inspire and encourage everyone in Des Plaines, IL to create flowers to display from October 1 - November 15, 2023 (Illinois Arts Month).

The Terrain Biennial - an international event that helps artists’ work be showcased throughout the city, in front yards, on patios and front stoops AS WELL AS ADORNING THE ENTIRE CITY with beautiful flowers made from plastics, wire coat hangers, beads, paint and various other materials.  

The UIC Extension 4-H group will be one of the first workshops DPAG will hold to teach these techniques. We hope you will all be excited to participate in this city wide project.  

FROM TRASH TO TREASURE

Support Mother Nature with this innovative craft project to turn your trash into beautiful art.   

Most plastic bottles are made from useful, resilient, flexible and transparent food grade materials. 

Participants will create beautiful and colorful flowers to display in their home, business, or garden and help to keep plastic waste out of water and landfills.
