Forest Regeneration Work Day

Enjoy being outdoors and help to regenerate our local forests all at the same time! Lead by our very own KT Petersen, volunteers help to eradicate invasive species, such as the Buckthorn Tree. The Buckthorn Tree has been slowly but steadily choking out our native plants and trees since first being introduced by settlers to the area wanting to bring a piece of home from Europe with them. Unfortunately, Buckthorns are prolific and spread very quickly - which is very bad for many native plants, whose growth is inhibited by the stifling effect of these trees. Work can include lopping of smaller trees, hand sawing slightly larger ones, breaking down branches, feeding the bonfire or any multitude of smaller tasks.
