Celebrating Conservation - 6th Annual RIver Cleanup

Writer: Cynthia NielsenCynthia Nielsen

We're delighted to share the success of our 6th annual river cleanup event in collaboration with Clean Up Give Back. This year, 98 volunteers enthusiastically joined, including 25 scouts!

Together, we tackled cleanup efforts at 8 locations along the Des Plaines River, working diligently to remove debris and keep our waterways clean to enhance our local ecosystem.

One group inadvertently left their collected trash at the site, which the Forest Preserve later picked up. This incident serves as a reminder of the ongoing importance of responsible waste management and community engagement.

Over the years, our collective efforts have shown a positive trend: from collecting over 2,200 pounds during our first cleanup to around 400 pounds this year. This decline reflects the dedication of our volunteers to maintaining cleaner environments throughout the year.

We extend our heartfelt gratitude to all participants, partners, and supporters who made this event a resounding success. Your commitment to environmental stewardship and community involvement continues to inspire us.

Stay tuned for more opportunities to join us in safeguarding our natural resources and building a sustainable future together!
